Our story

We built Shoptest because a broken checkout cost a client $10,000 overnight.

Shoptest exists because “the site is up” was never the right question. We started as an agency that felt this problem firsthand — and now we’re building the answer for every team who’s felt it too.

How it started

One release. One untested checkout. One very long night.

It happened the way these things usually do — quietly, at the worst possible time.

A release went out to a client’s store. A well-known beauty brand, the kind with real traffic and real revenue behind every hour the site is live. The change looked fine. It wasn’t fully tested. And somewhere between “looks fine” and “customers are trying to buy,” checkout stopped working.

Nobody noticed. Not overnight, not first thing in the morning. The store simply sat there, live, broken, quietly losing every order that tried to come through — for a full evening and night.

The next morning, the client called. Direct, and fair:

SILENT BREAKAGE
Revenue lost
$0
3PM – 8AM · silent breakage
6PM
$1,765
12AM
$5,294
8AM
$10,000

“We’re down roughly $10,000 because of this. What are you going to do about it?”

That conversation was hard, and it should have been. A release had gone to production without being properly tested, and a client paid for it. We owned that.

But the client said something else that stuck with us:

“If there’s nothing out there that actually tests whether a store still works after a change — you should build it.”

“If there’s nothing out there that actually tests whether a store still works after a change — you should build it.”

We looked. There wasn’t. Plenty of tools could tell you a server was responding. Nothing was checking whether a customer could actually search, add to cart, and check out — the journeys that make a store money in the first place.

That gap became the first idea behind Shoptest: an app that continuously tests the customer journeys that matter, and tells you the moment one of them breaks — before your customers do.

“If there’s nothing out there that actually tests whether a store still works after a change — you should build it.”

A few years and a lot of screwed-up releases later — we built it.

Who’s behind it

An agency perspective, and a builder’s perspective.

Shoptest is co-founded by Tomasz Sadowski and Chris Stola — and the two perspectives they bring are the reason the product looks the way it does.

When the idea for Shoptest surfaced, the fit was obvious. One founder who understood the agency’s daily pain from the inside. One founder who’d already proven he could build and scale a Shopify app end to end. Two very different vantage points on the same problem — which is exactly what a store-protection product needs.

A real problem, not an invented one.

Shoptest wasn’t dreamed up in a strategy meeting. It came from a client’s store going down, a client’s honest question, and a client’s direct suggestion to go build something that didn’t exist yet.

Early, deliberate, and built with real agencies.

We brought the first version to market in May 2026 and started onboarding our first agency partners. We’re still in an active MVP phase: expanding functionality, shaping the product around what agencies actually need, and taking feedback directly from the teams using it today.

What we build around

Four things we don’t compromise on.

Reliability first

A store-protection tool has to be the one thing that never breaks.

Security

Customer data and store access are handled with real, serious care.

Convenience

Protection should take minutes to set up, not weeks of onboarding.

User focus

Every feature starts from agency needs, not technical curiosity.

Ship changes with confidence. Every time.
